The Department of Art is seeking applications for a limited term appointment for gallery director and art foundation instructor beginning in Fall 2025. This part-time (75%) appointment would be for the ’25-’26 academic year, with potential for renewal.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate exhibitions and programming in the H.F. Johnson Gallery of Art, including overseeing the installation and deinstallation of the exhibitions, facilitating exhibition programming,
Working collaboratively with campus offices for the marketing and publicity within the campus, local and regional communities.
The director will oversee a small team of student workers and will need to operate within the budget for the gallery.
In addition to these duties, the candidate would be employed to teach one course per semester in studio art foundations including 2D, 3D, 4D, digital arts, or art history depending on expertise and departmental needs.
Preferred qualifications:
MFA, Master’s or PhD from an accredited college or university in Art, Film, Graphic Design, Digital Media, Curatorial Studies, or Art History.
Candidates without an advanced degree but with significant professional experience are also encouraged to apply. We encourage applications from a diverse pool of candidates with real-world experience who desire to teach professional skills in a liberal arts context.
