Job Description

Our client, a growing Houston area law firm, is seeking an experienced Accounting/Billing Manager with law firm accounting experience to join their Accounting team. The Accounting Manager should have a strong understanding of the billing and collections cycle in a law firm setting. Proficiency in TABS and Microsoft Excel is essential. This role plays a critical part in supporting the firm's accounting department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately post receipts, write-offs, payment reversals, and refunds to client accounts

  • Process billing activities including drafting invoices, making revisions, submitting electronically, and managing appeals

  • Research and analyze client account discrepancies and histories as needed

  • Post trust account deposits and issue checks for trust transactions

  • Maintain open communication with attorneys, staff, and clients on receivables, under the direction of the Financial Administrator

  • Assist with bank reconciliations for multiple accounts

  • Update the accounting/billing procedures manual

  • Generate and review reports from TABS billing software

  • Set up new clients in TABS

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in legal accounting, billing, accounts payable, and accounts receivable

  • Prior experience working in a law firm is required

  • Proficiency in TABS is preferred

  • Intermediate or above skills in Microsoft Excel and Outlook is required

  • Familiarity with electronic billing platforms such as TyMetrix, Serengeti, CounselLink, Collaborati, Legal Exchange, and Acuity

  • Payroll experience is a plus

  • Exceptional organizational skills and strong attention to detail

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment

  • Professional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively across all levels of the firm

  • Strong customer service mindset, ownership mentality, and follow-through

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion

  • Reliable attendance and a commitment to teamwork and professionalism
