Golf Course Superintendent
Golf course in Metairie, Louisiana is looking for a Golf Course Superintendent.
Position Overview:
• Report directly to the director of agronomy.
• In accordance with the director of agronomy’s agronomic vision, plan, supervise, and execute the tasks of maintaining all the playing surfaces and course landscaping.
• Help develop a skilled, educated, trained, and motivated golf maintenance team that is well versed in equipment operation, company or departmental policies, and safety expectations.
• Supervise and execute the application of fertilizers and pesticides to all playing surfaces as well as the calibration of all application equipment.
• Monitor, maintain, service, and schedule various aspects of the irrigation system in coordination with the director of agronomy.
• Maintain records of fertilizer and pesticide applications as well as labor tracking files.
• Accept suggestions from the golf maintenance team on improving efficiency, equipment operation, policies, and procedures.
• Provide input to the director of agronomy on ways to improve overall operations.
Requirements:
A high school diploma or equivalent degree.
Completion of a 2- or 4-year program in turfgrass management from an accredited institution.
Minimum of 3 years of postgraduate experience serving as an assistant superintendent.
Possess or prove the ability to obtain a valid Category 3 commercial pesticide applicator’s license from the Louisiana Department of Agriculture.
Warm season turfgrass management is strongly desired.
Spanish language skills are a benefit but not required.
Computer skills are a benefit but not required.
Compensation:
$80,000 per year.
